1. Who We Are

Gift Registry Guru (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is developed and operated by Web Framez Pvt. Ltd., registered in Punjab, India application is available on the Shopify App Store. Our App enables Shopify merchants to offer gift registry functionality — including wedding registries, baby registries, birthday registries, and more — directly on their online stores.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following categories:

2.1 Merchant Information

When a Shopify merchant installs our App, we may collect:

  • Shopify store name, domain, and URL
  • Merchant contact name and email address
  • Billing and plan information (processed by Shopify)
  • Store configuration and settings data
  • Access tokens provided by Shopify to interact with your store’s API

2.2 Customer / Registrant Information

When a customer creates or manages a gift registry through our App, we may collect:

  • Full name and email address
  • Phone number (optional, if provided)
  • Shipping/delivery address for the registry
  • Event name, type, and date (e.g., wedding, baby shower)
  • Products added to the registry and their quantities
  • Registry sharing preferences and personalized messages
  • Gift purchase status and gifter names

2.3 Gifter Information

When someone purchases from or views a registry, we may collect:

  • Name and email address (if provided for notifications or thank-you notes)
  • Purchase details related to registry items

2.4 Technical & Usage Data

We automatically collect certain technical data when you use our App, including:

  • Browser type and version, operating system
  • Device type and screen resolution
  • Pages and features accessed within the App
  • Timestamps, clickstream data, and session duration

2.5 Cookies & Tracking Technologies

  • To allow merchants to manage registries and for customers to create, edit, and share registries
  • To send registry-related email notifications (e.g., item purchased, thank-you notes, registry reminders)
  • To prevent duplicate purchases and keep registry statuses up to date
  • To generate analytics and reports for merchants about registry performance
  • To process merchant billing and subscription management via Shopify
  • To respond to support requests, inquiries, and feedback
  • To detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents
  • To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and Shopify’s Partner Program requirements
  • To improve our App, fix bugs, and develop new features

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data in the following limited circumstances:

4.1 With Merchants

If you are a customer using a registry on a merchant’s store, the merchant has access to registry data (including registrant information and purchase history) through their Gift Registry Guru merchant dashboard. The merchant’s own privacy policy governs their use of that data.

4.2 With Service Providers

We work with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the App, including:

  • Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud)
  • Email delivery services for registry notifications
  • Analytics platforms for App performance monitoring
  • Customer support tools

These providers are contractually obligated to use data only to perform services on our behalf and to protect it appropriately.

4.3 With Shopify

4.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Gift Registry Guru, our users, or the public.

4.5 Business Transfers

If Gift Registry Guru undergoes a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify affected users of any such change in ownership or use of personal information.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy:

  • Registry data is retained for the duration of the merchant’s active subscription plus a reasonable wind-down period
  • After a merchant uninstalls our App, we will delete or anonymize their data within 30 days, unless required by law to retain it
  • Customers may request deletion of their registry data at any time by contacting the merchant or us directly
  • Technical logs and analytics data may be retained in aggregated, anonymized form for longer periods

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit using TLS/HTTPS
  • Encryption of sensitive data at rest
  • Access controls limiting who can view personal data
  • Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
  • Secure API authentication using Shopify OAuth tokens

While we take security seriously, no system is completely immune from breaches. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected parties as required by applicable law.

7. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

7.1 For All Users

7.3 For California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

Gift Registry Guru is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. 9. Third-Party Links & Integrations

Our App may integrate with or link to third-party services (such as email marketing tools or analytics platforms). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you use.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have different data protection laws. When we transfer data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure your data remains protected.

11. Shopify App Store Compliance

As a Shopify App developer, we comply with Shopify’s Partner Program Agreement and API terms. We only request access to merchant and customer data that is necessary for our App’s functionality, and we do not use this data for purposes beyond those disclosed in this Policy or required by Shopify’s guidelines.

Data accessed via Shopify APIs is used solely to power gift registry features and is not shared with advertisers or used for unrelated commercial purposes.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the “Effective Date” at the top of this Policy
  • Notify merchants via email or an in-app notice
  • Post the updated Policy on our website and App listing
